My 1911 has never been to a smith and works just fine, thank you. Neither have the 2 that I own. But, they are milspec and I only shoot FMJ and Winchester Ranger 230grn Hps thru them. perhaps when you ask the 1911 to do more than it was designed to do, is when problems arise with it. I got l...

Besides the stellar conduct and knowledge of the folks here, no one ever mentions Glocks. Now don't get me wrong, I own a couple. The Colt 1911's are great guns. I own 2 of them and don't plan on letting them go. Glocks are an improvement in defensive handguns over the 1911, same as the 1911 was an improvement over the Colt 1873. No bashing, it's evolution.

What's a glock? +1 +2. I have 6 1911s, and 1 Combat Commander. Each tuned to reliably feed my ammo choices; with better than merely good, quality magazines. 99% of all 1911 feed issues are magazines and bullet shape. The others are recoil springs or other "enhancements" that are ill-consi...

I like it so much, that, if the ammo wasn't obsolete, it would be my only big game hunting round. The other 2 use pointed bullets ...
