Sorry to be a weenie, but if it's still this windy come Friday, I'll be a no-show. It is howling out there! Looks to be about 20mph sustained and some of those gusts will knock your hat off.
I've got several scoped rifles I'd like to sight in and fine tune, and aside from meeting and hobnobbing with fellow levergun enthusiasts, a day like today would be a wasted trip to the range.
I'll be watching the weather forecasts like a hawk. If I like what I see Friday morning, I'll be there.

I posted some stuff on the classifieds. If anyone is interested in anything let me know and I'll bring it with me. I'm headed up tomorrow after lunch as I have family in that area.

Jerry- Sorry for your loss.
Fiddler- The wind should be lessening today and should not be a problem on Friday.

I am trying to get this weeks work complete, so I can join you all.

I will be bringing a couple of Marlins and a couple of Smith and Wessons.

grahng - My condolences on the passing of your mother.

Fiddler -

weather.com is predicting 61-62 degrees for the high tomorrow, with wind between 4-7 mph, mostly cloudy.

Anybody have a tentative head count?

Planning on being there myself, draggin' my Pop. ;-)

Thanks for the great report and pictures. That is one fine looking range, ain't no place in north Arkansaw that you can see 1000 yards much less straight and flat.

Well guys, I zigged when I should have zagged.
At 8AM Friday I walked outside and it looked calm and beautiful. However, it looked calm and beautiful at daybreak all week long before the wind began raging.
On Friday morning our TV weatherman said we would still have wind from the north and the westerly jet stream, just like we had all week.
So, being the suspicious type, I decided that Friday would be a repeat of the conditions we've been experiencing all week.
So, I didn't go. I wanted to sandbag my rifles and do some serious sighting-in, but thought it would be too windy.
By 12 o'clock I was kicking myself. It turned into a beautiful day.
Sorry guys. I screwed up.

Thanks all who made it I know I had a great time. Rusty Jr. did as well. He now wants to become a member at that range. It looks to me that the range is run a lot better than most I've been to. The traffic lights you saw in the pics are to inform people of hot range cold range condition. There was a lot of really friendly folks there. If you want to shoot the 1,000 yard targets they have golf carts to take you down there. They might do that other places too, I guess I don't get out much.

In all fairness, as much as I like having it in my backyard maybe we should plan on alternating it from east coast to west coast (of Fla.) so everyone can get a chance to come.

I look like I'm anticipating getting hammered in those pictures. At least it's nice to have my express sights filed down where they need to be for that load.

I have not, but RIHMFIRE probably had more contact with him. I know he had a pile of cool lever guns. The last time we went shooting, he had grabbed a Marlin 1893 in 32-40. It's been quite a while since I've heard from him.

Duff has picked up and left Florida...
The last time I talked to him, seems like it was almost a year ago,
he was in Arkansas, and I think he was even thinking of
moving to Texas...I left a few messages on his old cell number
and sent him a bunch of pms....but he never answered any...
