Re: Dick Proenneke Revisited
Anybody know what brand of .357 revolver Mr. Proenneke had? It's shown in "The Frozen North" DVD* and appears to be a single action with a six or six and a half inch barrel. He carried it in an old military issue "tanker" holster. The last inch or so sticking out. (Too bad Rob Le...

Slightly OT, but in perusing Cjiappa's site, they list an 1892 Trapper as "44WRM" caliber. 44 Mag or 44-40 or what? 44Winchester Rimfire Magnum?

I asked why I needed a passport to visit Maine since it is a state. She replied that the computer said that tit was an &quo...

Actually two. I have a old tang-sight for the Savage 99, but no mounting screws.
Does anybody know what size/type of screw I should order from Brownell's?

Here's who they got for Mattie Ross Personally, I think Glen Cambell was the weakest, worst actor they could have found to play a toughman in a western, and I think he tainted the film. Surely, Damon will be able to play a better part, regardless of his politics. I've never read the book, didn't ev...

Gunsmith, the law only applies to centerfire ammo. It mentions nothing about rimfire ammo. See below. "3004.5. (a) Nonlead centerfire rifle and pistol ammunition, as determined by the commission, shall be required when taking big game with rifle or pistol, as defined by Section 350 of the depa...

I tried my Uberti Navy at 75 yards a couple of times, I always used a full load under a round ball. If you lock any firearms, unloaded in the trunk, you'll be okay. Makes it hard to retrieve in case of need - in which case I'd NOT be OK - one of my reasons for preferring to stay away from the left coast (and huge portions of the east coast as well). Sigh. But that looks like the way it'll have to...

Same rules apply as everywhere else. Ship to FFL. The CLFC law doesn't apply unless you are shipping within the state and are an FFL. The law was created and supported by the FFL's in California as a way to create a monopoly and discourage out of state transfers. The California FFL's have been charg...

This law came about due to the California Association of Firearms Retailers, CAFR. It seems out of state FFL's are hurting their bottom line. So they proposed AB2521 back in 2005-2006. They told the "gun lobby", NRA, CalNRA, GOC,and CRPA, that this was an "industry bill" meaning ...
