At velocites that leverguns shoot the old cup&core bullets do just fine for meat animals and will work on grizzlies to, but its hard to beat the lbt gc bullets they hold together like a 1.25 bullet but cost a bunch less $20.00 a 100. danny

jdad, 22 grains of 5744 will give you 2000 fps and 32800 psi with a 173 gr gc lead bullet in a 20 " bbl. It also lists a 190 gr lead gc @ 22 gr for 1950 fps and 35300 psi. The last load is for 170 jacketed nolser of 23.5 gr and 1998 fps. I really like that powder as it good in both my rifles an...

Starts the 3rd sunday in october for rifle, bow season starts the first sat. of sept. We have a backcountry hunt that is for rifle that starts sept 15 but you have to go down around yellowstone park or the Bob Marshall Wilderness by Glacier park. Thanks for the luck. danny

Montana is pretty good can carry concealed in a vehicle includes person in city limits, outside vehicle open carry. Outside city limits concealed or open carry have to tell leo if he askes you. No restriction on loaded firearm (any) in vehicle. As a result of this law we have few if any carjackings....

Lewis, Hit the trailhead at 0730 back by 1730 7 miles one way 3000' to 6500'. RJohn, when you get were you going your still rideing a donkey, the shewbald pinto in front of me is a john mule. As a old cowboy I ride horses and pack mules. danny

Last saturday some freinds and I took a little horse ride up to Great Northern Mtn in the cabinets. Clearing trail and checking out the elk,mulies and goats huckleberries were good. danny

Paul that lake was full of brookies too they were hitting on panther martins and roostertail mepps they were on the small side though the limit was 5 bows and cutts and 20 brookies. Just over the tree line in the photo and 500' higher was Upper Cedar twice the area of the lower lake. danny

The best way to catch those high mtn trout is spin gear with a clear bobber and a lawyer fly about 5 or 6' behind it. My hunting partner and I caught one about every cast, just put it out there and then slow slow retreive. they were running 10 to 14". danny http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb...

Took a horse ride into lower Cedar lake in the north end of the cabinets, caught some rainbows and cutts ate em was checking out the elk also but only saw tracks . Huckleberries were ripe and good too! danny

Ive had good luck with the 30 WCF taken deer, elk and stock killing cats and bear with 170 gr handloads cast & jacketed it works everytime. danny

Ive used a 30 win since 65 for deer and elk and always have one under my leg when riding, the last few years the grizzlies are getting rear end deep but a 30/30 will geterdone for that too. Dark timber elk. danny

The stones are a result of your body pulling calcium from your bones and what is left over is the stones, means your body isnt getting enough calcium . My dad would pass 1 or 2 stones a year for 20 years started on good grade of calcium and vitamin C hasnt had a problem the last 20 years. danny

Pete, I was concerned that if I was working cows all day or hunting that the sight couldnt take the jarring and beating it is going to get, my rifles are in a scabbard every day I ride and when Iam not riding the scabbard is in the truck bouncing around. danny

Thanks for the info, sounds like the fire sight might be a problem child, I'll stay with a sourdough sight, I dont want to baby my tools and when I need them I want them to work. Where I live and hunt I run into predators all the time and some of them are big. danny

Does anyone have experience with them. Ive only seen them in photos, how would they stand up to carry in a scabbard in rough country and cold weather. I carry my rifle under my leg from the rear with sights up. danny

Stretch, Ive done alot of ADC on yotes, fox and cats you wont be hurt by using a 22 mag use 40 gr solids as they dont blow up also less pelt damage which can mean $, fact is for years I used a 22 WRF and it worked fine. Good hunting and Merry Christmas. danny

Most used lever is a 30wcf in a model 94 in my truck and ahorseback, unless Iam hunting in a grizzly infested area then I'll carry a brning 71 with 250 gr loads.
My go to revolver is a ruger sa in 45 colt, truck or ahorseback. danny
