Mine allows the door to open more than 90 degrees to the safe which allows easier access into/out of the safe. Plus 1 on the size get the bigger one if youcan. Also I cover all my shotguns/rifles using rifle-socks as they can get nicked just placeing other rifles in and out. With a small tag at the ...

First off and most important, prayers and best wishes are with you. I am also sorry for the loss of your sister.
It sounds like you have come up with a resonable solution to shooting. Have you tried shooting left handed?

Just one. 308 BLR (so it is On topic!) Don't remember the load/bullet, I hit a mule deer buck at about 90 yards and it literally rolled forward and rested on his head in a bush but with all his feet still on the ground. Like it was expiring. I saw no reason to shoot it again, and the vitals were now...

All of my traditional levers (4) have iron factory open sites. One the oldest a Marlin 93 in 32 Win Spec was carried this year during elk season here in CO. The others are a Win 88 in 308, Win 94 in 30-30 and a Savage 99 in 300 Sav. My psuedo (sp?) levers, a Ruger #1 and a Ruger #3 both have scopes.

You did not say what area of the property this is. Is it close to your house? Along a drive? I put up a No Tresspassing sign along my drive then 20 yards further in I put up a Private Property sign, seems like the two one following the other helped. Most people around here put up a chian with flaggi...

Good suggestions, thanks. I have been hunting the weekdays, but yesterday decided to go for a walk, 7 miles later one was in the back of the car after a long 400 yard shot.
Felt good even with carrying her out 1.25 miles. Today is the last day of the season so concentrating on my next hunt now.

With lever guns, I have killed elk with a 32 Win Spec, 30-30, 300 Savage, 308, 45-70 but my vote would be for a 348 Win in a model 71 or the 300 Savage. The only two moose I have killed were with a 338 win mag. Your 308 can get the job done but why not go big! 348!
