The first vehicle I ever bought brand new was a 1980 CJ-5 with the Pontiac 2.5l 4 banger and a 4 speed. I could get about 27mpg in it if I drove like I had good sense. Traded it in on a new F-150 Supercab in '85 and have regretted it ever since.

Mrs Willy got a few chickens from her cousin last spring. Now we probably have about 30 head of all kinds of chickens from bantams to big naked neck zombie looking chickens. Her latest acquisition was 5 baby mallards. We're getting more eggs than we can give away now.

We've got an old tom that was found on the side of the road as a kitten with a terribly messed up front leg. It was messed up bad enough that they had to amputate it. The folks that found and raised him had to let him go and Mrs Willy took him in. To only have 3 legs, he gets around pretty good.

We've got a 6 acre hay field that I'm waiting on a neighbor to come by and cut it on the halves. We use the round bales though and I'm not jealous of the square bales either. Much easier to move the round bales around with a tractor.

I'd imagine that the 38-40 and the 44-40 would use the same receiver. The 38-40 is the 44-40 necked down to 40 cal. As for making that 1873 into something it's not, well it's yours. I'm not sure how they work it, but the Sheriff's deputies around here carry what ever feels comfortable to them. I was talking to one a few weeks ago and he carries a 357. First wheelgun I've seen in years carried by a LEO. And this is a fairly young guy.

With my fixed income and the shortage of ammo and components, I only been shooting when something needs shot. I've got enough ammo to see me through for a while if I don't go crazy with it, but I will admit to a certain embarrassment in my 357 Mag supply.

I've used the .690 round balls in a muzzleloading 12ga that is cylinder bored. I normally just patch 'em like I would for a m/l rifle. But I have used shot cups before too. The round balls seemed to be more accurate in with the patch than in the shot cup.

I've got a couple of Marlin 1894s (357 & 44-40) and the Navy Arms version of the Rossi (357). Once it had wore in a bit, the Navy Arms has become my go to gun around the farm here.

Don't know if the story is true or not, but Billy the Kid supposedly killed a deputy with a shotgun loaded with dimes. Considering what a dime was worth back then, it was some pretty expensive shooting if true.

My experience with microgroove and cast bullets matches Mike in Peru's. Size your bullets about .002 over groove diameter and there's nothing wrong with microgroove.
