I don't know if it is a flat shootin' 150 yard laser beam, but my '86 load is a 420gr gr cast using 44grs of 3031 which gives me about 1550fps. I have to agree with 444Hal. I go to both boards and haven't had much problem at either place. Been on Leverguns since the late '90's sometime and Marlin for just a year or two. But I try to never get into scuffles either place. I am polite, expect the same and haven't had any problems either place.

I live up here in the mountains 20.5 miles from the crater of Mt St Helens. I love the mountains and wouldn't have it any other way. Plus in 2 hours I can be at the ocean or in the desert, depending if I want to go East or West.

That was an interesting read. I had no idea that Remington or anyone else had/does make a 170gr HP. I've never seen it on the shelves in my neck of the woods (PNW).
I don't buy factory ammunition but I'll keep an eye out just to see if it is stocked anywhere around here.

Exactly, OS. I knew a feller years ago that owned one gun. A 45-70. Needless to say that was also his 'woods bumming' gun. He used two loads for as long as I ever knew him. A 300gr cast and 9grs of Unique and a 500gr with enough 3031 to drive it plumb through an elk. Who was to say that was too much...

While I'm not much of a hollow point caster, I do LOVE the 429244. I killed elk #2 through #13 with that bullet from .44 revolvers before I caught the heavy weight .44 bug.
