I read about a conversion of a Ruger Mini 30 to basically that cartridge ... .358x39. They said it was great. The higher pressures that rifle could handle yielded 35 Rem balistics. I think your conversios is a good idea. If you didn't want to get dies made right away, you could neck size with the ca...

It's still cloudy up here and looks just a little like rain. I'm going to load up a variety of rounds for the toy using 200 and 220 jacketed and 250 and 300 gc lead. I have some of the CIL 255 jacketed factory loads rated at 1600 fps to try also. All of the bullets are .375 and .376 in diameter. I'm...

I thank everyone for their comments. I enjoy my rainy day dreaming especially when there is a basis for it. The Hornet or rather K-Hornet are coming to the forefront of choices as my favorites. I was leaning to the K and with what DavidS said, it makes sense to go that way because it would reduce ba...

Bullets for my Little Sharps
I didn't need a sinker , the round ball worked great. The bore is .3815. So, what size bullet should I get?
I have a very limited knowledge of cast bullets or at least I feel I do. I'll ask more questions as I go along.

The barrel is worse than a hundred year old sewer pipe inside and it shoots like one. That's why it didn't get changed to a Bee. Also, we had the K-Hornet reamer. My thoughts center around a new barrel and a K-Hornet chamber since I have a magazine already and I had a K once and loved it ... of cour...

OT-Winchester Model 43 Info Needed
I recently got a Model 43 Winchester in a trade. It was a .22 Hornet with pretty much the worst barrel I've ever seen and an egg shaped chamber. We tried re-chambering to K-Hornet but the chamber is still egg shaped. I want to re-barrel (but hang onto the original) but need info as to what they were...

I Got My "Little" Toy
I got it, I got it, I got it!!! My Little Sharps is home. The wood is not very fancy but both pieces match. The metal to wood fit is pretty good. It might just be the best balancing rifle to carry I've ever owned. It balances perfectly right in front of the action. Just using my calipers, the bore m...

Fed-Ex vs. Weatherby
This is not about a lever gun but still is not off topic. I just talked to the one guy at the shop. We received a Weatherby from California to do some work on. The Fed-Ex guy brought it into the shop and was looking around while Jake opened the box. Good thing he was still there. The stock was snapp...

OT-HUMOR-MANS BEST FRIEND
We hear so much about how a dog is mans best friend. But, what about your wife … your soul mate … your companion through life?
Here’s a test …
Put your wife and your dog in the trunk of your car for an hour … open the trunk ...
Which one is truly happy to see you?

This might sound strange but I've seen it and it worked. It was a mauser converted to .30-30. The guy fitted a magazine from a 340 Savage rifle inside the magazine of the mauser with the Savage mag release. The void around the mag was filled with metal or something and epoxy. It worked. Maybe that i...

My .357, my hog, and a .308
I went "hog hunting" on a large island in the Susquehana River today. It functions as a private facility for the hunts. The hogs had been raised elsewhere and stocked there on Thursday ... they were about 300 pounds. They were not wild like I hoped they would be but about like some farm pi...

The Marlin 336 at the top would hold about 1 1/2 to 2 inches at 100 yards with handloads ... my buddy is now enjoying it. The .22 Savage will do 1/2 inch with ease at 50 yards but we shoot at 50 feet, off-hand, standing. I can get almost one hole ... others can with it. The 36 has done 1 1/2 at 50 y...

Well, the PA Game Commission in response to the "protectors" and their court suit have declared a season for taking "wild hogs". They may ONLY be harvested, with no bag limit, during the fall turkey, deer, and bear seasons since the State Supreme court ruled them to be protected ...
