WINCHESTER Hass not truly been "Winchester", since the merger/buy-out by Olin-Western Cartridge, in 1935. The Miroku factory is owned and operated by the entity which owns the rights and trade-marks relating to Winchester firearms, making Miroku the legal maker and marketer of Winchester (...
Sorry to hear that. .
Hoping you get over it quickly.
Meanwhile: wash your hands frequently, and wear gloves and a mask while typing, to prevent spread of the virus via the internet...
My favorite for that application are yhe Lyman/F.a. 300 gr, or the CPB 325 gr GC.. Both are LFN-style, and feed perfectly in a lever gun. You may have to cut back the stop on the lifter just a bit, to allow the cartridge to cleat the magazine. I had to do that on my B-92 Vrowning (Miroku..) I used b...
There are literally Thousands of model 94 take-off barrels lying around I shops. Get one installed, and just go shoot it..
Keep the .32 barrel, just because..

A couple pair of boots/shoes, and some empty boxes; a stray .45 Colt case or two and assorted dust bunnies. My 12-gauge TTN coach gun stands between the bed post and the night stand, stoked with 3" Winchester 00 Buck. A strip containing 3" 000 Buck and Brenneke Black Magic Magnums ison the...
Well, Gents, Thanks for the Homecoming Welcome ! It's great to be back at the familiar fire, among fruends, new and old.. I never was "lost", just off exporing new country for a while, waiting for someone to clear the trail back to camp.. I found several things to keep me busy, including e...
MANY THANKS to Andy Tutt for doing the leg work to allow me access to this forum agaun. It only took one false step the get passwords crossed up, and I found myself outside, taappin' on an empty window.. I had all but given up on finding a way back in.. Thanks to all who pushed the right buttons and...
The Big Guns of the Iowa class battle-wagons were directed by analog (crank & lever) computers, and had to be fired while the ship was underway.. Troops on the ground often called for 15-meter fire correction, to be delivered as far as 23 miles from the ship. They got it, often as not...
That sounds fun. Did you use that cartridge on deer? Never used it on deer, but shot a lot of jacks, a number of snowshoes and coyotes with it.. Years earlier, I shot a couple deer for camp meat with a .25 WCF, but did just as well with a .22 WMR.. .22 LR will also put down deer, if you can place y...
My choice for "deep" concealed carry is a Browning Mini-1911, in .380.
It holds 8+1, weighs 14-oz empty, and it goes Bang, every time I tell it to, and digests every sort of .380 ammo I've fed it..
H-110/W-296 have no "unpleasant surprises", at pressures from 30,000 to 65,000 psi (.454 Casual range..) Li'l Gun behaves pretty much the same, and is better for heavier (180+) bullets in the .357. Neither powder works efficiently with light-weight bullets, giving the "flash-bang"...
You may have to relieve the top of the hammer and/or the flat underneath the firing pin extension..
Just enough to prevent binding, then polish both surfaces..
A little lithium grease on those surfaces, and vigorous cycling of the action should take care of it..
A heavy-loaded .44 mag., .45 Colt, or .454 can serve admirably in both short and long guns, and are only "underpowered" in someone's imagination..
Throw in S&W's .460 or .500, and the field becomes ever more level..
I had a Remington Model 10 whose stock cracked, so made a similar style pistol-grip for it, and sawed it to 18.5" - it was nasty to fire 'from the hip' with one hand on the frond and the other on the pistol grip, but was NICE to fire with both hands on the pistol grip, like a large, front-heav...
I plink with FMJ, and carry JHPs.....I can vouch that the FMJs penetrate a bit better, but the JHPs mushroom mo betta....Heck, I don't know...I've shot both into 2" thick boards and they both make a big hole exiting the back.... That's pretty much the same as my routine.. thanks for the heads-...
We used to shoot .410s in Trapdoor Springfield and '86 Winchesters..
We'd have done better throwing hands-full of pea gravel...
I tried the 9410 with no better results..
Why..?
Mostly as a jab at Winchester, I think, whose original designation for the .44-40 was ".44 W.C.F.".
Colt did not wish to advertise explicitly for their rival, but still wanted to hint at the connection, which was interchangeability of ammunition..
Thank you for the great hunting/shooting story.. It always pleases me to see tales of good lever guns in the field. A lot of people seem surprised that something like a '73 can be just as effective today as it was 100-plus years ago.. I've owned a number of Uberti 73s over the years, mostly 24"...
Sixty-two years ago, this coming Summer, I fell heir to my great grand-dad's FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER, with the 7 1/2" barrel. I was 12, and that hogleg was half as big as I was, or so it seemed.. I killed a few coyotes with it, along with a mess of rabbits, and even an occasional deer, for camp me...
Every time I come here, I have to log in again, no matter how often I punch the "remember me" button..
If it wouldn't be TOO MUCH trouble, couldn't we go back to the previous format..?
No need to start an argument.. They pop up quite regularly around here, with minimal provocation.. I was out on the local desert yesterday, drilling rabbit-size targets at will, with my Uberti 1873 Short Rifle, cal, .45 Colt, at 200 yards, give or take.. That rifle, one of my .45 Colt SA revolvers, ...
Casually, around town, it's a Browning Mini-1911 .380.. Hornady or Browning 95-gr HP, magazines hold 8 +1 chambered.. Spare magnetic carries Winchester or Speer 95-gr. FMJ.. For more serious, "social" excursions, a SAA-style chambered for heavy .45 Colt loads, with 12 or 24 spare rounds in...
An over-zealous drone "pilot" got himself in trouble very recently, for flying his craft over some elk on the National Elk Refuge in Jackson.. The buzzing whirligig stampeded a couple hundred head through deep snow, nearly clear across the Refuge, adding extra stress to the already-beleagu...
