OT- Military Bolt Rifle conversion question
Good morning guys. Has any of you ever done the Dayton Traister Speed-Lock conversion on an old cock-on-closing bolt rifle? I have a sporterized model 96 Swede Mauser that I have built. It is very accurate off of the bench, but in the field I have found that the long lock-time and heavy fall of the ...

If i'm just "bummin" I don't like to carry a long gun. I usually put one of my short-barreled Ruger single-actions in a Simply Rugged pancake.

Re: range report with observations and questions
Ditto what Tycer sed. My Winchester 94 30/30 has slightly backed-out primers, but headspace is "within acceptable". One solution, if you reload, is to neck size only the brass that was fired in your gun. I say have the headspace checked, and if it is acceptable, don't concern yourself too ...

Re: OT---T/C .50 cal White Mountain Carbine Muzzleloader
It would be MUCH cheaper and simpler to replace the barrel vs. reboring. Any barrel meant for the T/C Hawen (15/16 accross the flats) should drop right in. Green Mountain is a great barrel if you don't mind spending about $200. Check Track of the Wolf. You could also go on EBAY and pick up a used ba...

Re: how difficult is it to put a receiver peep site on a M92
If I had another M-92 to peep, I'd put an XS peep atop the receiver siderails, straddling the locking lugs, over the bolt top - one hole D/T on each side, leaving the sides neat/clear. . Me too Pete. I mounted a Williams on mine myself, but I like the look of the XS on top better. If you decide to ...

I have had luck with the Lyman 358156, which is a gas check design. That bullet with H110 shoots well in my Blackhawk. It also does well in my Rossi Carbine. I don't think you could reach those velocities with a plain based bullet without leading your barrel.

That "overhanging buttplate" is apparently pretty common on the Rossis. It was the only thing on mine that wasn't to my liking. A little file work and some cold blue fixed it to my liking. I did stop at that, though!

I've settled on Unique for my .38, .357, .45ACP and .45 Colt. I also use it for reduced cast bullet loads in my rifles. W748 for the 30/30, .32WS and .308. That catches alomst everything I reload for.

I'll bet you a dollar to a donut that the biggest cause of your leading is a bullet too hard. 26 BHN are some hard bullets! I shoot nothing but 10-12 BHN in my Blackhawk and it has never leaded. My barrel slugs .452 and my throats .454, and my forcing cone is rough as a corncob. I vote softer bullet...
