I think the first thing I would do is try and find some history on it, see if you can get any paper work from Cody, if you knew who owned it first that might she a little light on the notches in the but plate.

Every thing that I have read says that the Browning/morukos are much stronger then the originol Winchesters, and are even stronger then the Marlins, not sure they are as strong as the #1, but I have loaded up loads for it that I don't want to shoot!!

Yes when I googled it using "Liberty safe lock wont open" I think that was the frase that I used, it gave me a link to the troubleshooting section on line.

I know some people have not been happy with their ammo, I have had great luck with it, it shoots well, seams to be at factory velocities, I like their hard cast bullets too.

I have a Browning 1886 Carbine, and a Browning 71 Carbine, I like the 348 better then the 45-70, but I like the looks/feel of the 1886 better then the 71!

It seams like I read, I think on this board in another thread that you can mount the Marbles on the tang with just one screw and it will not move because of the curve in the tang, it just kind of holds it in place, I don't know if a search will find it or not.

You have to remember that the 300 Savage was also as powerfull as the -06 back in the day, but with modern powder and the case capacity of the 06, being chambered in bolt guns it now takes the edge, but not by much next to the 71.
