Re: Looking for parts for Old style Uberti 1866
Back in Business. I wish I would have taken a picture of what was given to me in the beginning. This thing was in a bag of parts missing several pieces. Uberti has changed the inner workings since this one was produced probably in the 60s or 70s. Finding parts was a lot of fun. The hammer spring fee...

Winchester 94 Issue
Ran across a Winchester 94 Ranger Ae in the box. Gun looks new, unfired with tag still attached. The issue is when closing the action the Lever link plate is not seating flush with the bottom of the receiver. Some times the locking lugs seem to bind when coming up into battery. What should I be look...

Re: Winchester model 71 values
A fellow here in Georgia had one recently in fair shape asking $1300. He had no takers. I paid $825 for one off an auction site several years ago. It had been D/T and a recoil pad installed. The D/T didn't bother me since I planed on hunting with it. I wished it hadn't had the recoil pad installed m...

Re: What happened to the 257 Roberts and 25-35?
I've never had a 25-35 but if one just happen to cross my path I would. I recently picked up a sweet 1956 Mannlicher Schoenuer full stock carbine in .257 Roberts. It was the first of it's kind I had ever seen. I still have not had a chance to check on accuracy. The rifle is so pretty I'm almost scar...

I went last year for Antelope, I also went to Wyoming. We hunted near Casper off of Poison Spider. There were 2 kinds of people in Wyoming. The nicest folks I ever met and the polar opposite. I hope you only meet the first batch. I also used a .243 in a Ruger 77 UL, I killed my antelope at 225 yards...

If there isn't room in the gun safe, it means time for another gun safe. I only cull them to the least used safe. Never know when it will come back in style. I have never heard anyone say "I'm glad I got rid of that -----" unless it was no good.

I bought a .44 mag stainless carbine 3 years ago and replaced the safety with the bolt peep, replaced the front sight with a green fiber optic, mounted some swivels and replaced the plastic mag follower with a metal one. A very smooth light weight little carbine indeed ! Other then a few cans I have...

Easy. Invite me hunting in your yard. I can assure you there won't be a moose, elk, deer or bear within 10 miles of your house. Now squirrels and small noisy birds will be coming out of the wood work.

Re: Browning model 71 Carbine
The 71 was an updated 1886 action but the 348 cartridge is a necked down 50-110 case. It failed in the marketplace because this rifle does not accept conventional scope mounts. So-called average gun buyer didn't want a heavy recoiling top ejecting elk rifle. Marlin filled this gap very nicely with ...

Bore looks rough but I have not put any elbow grease in it yet to see how it will turn out. wood had been refinished and looks descent but does have some over sanding at the toe. I believe a little metal work to level it would help.
I still have not figured out how to post picks yet.

The scope came on the gun. I have a soft spot for post reticles. plus it looked period for the gun and that was also pretty cool. it still works great despite the recoil of the .348. If it does ever go kaput I'll replace it with a Leupold 2.5 .
