270WCF. Gun Smith nailed it. I've killed coyotes and deer with this outfit and did them both in grand style. Heck, this ain't even a compromise, it's a smart perfect fit. 270 WCF - 130 grain soft-point bullets. Oh, and I've yet to see a bullet bounce after passing through the animals you've listed....

Man! What a bunch of wimps! Whinning over a little heat! Here it stays in triple digits all night long and easily hits 112 degrees in the "shady summer time" days. And when the monsoon begins you can add humidity to the mix. Yee-haw! At least it keeps the weak at home and indoors.

I have sling swivels on a couple of my 336's. I carry one of those ballistic nylon slings, rolled up and stuck in my pocket while hunting or when I know I'll be shooting. When the shootings done and the gun must be carried any distance, I attach the sling, throw it over my shoulder and am on my way....
