Using that spotting scope to hunt mushrooms may be your problem. You're trying too hard. Relax and take leisurely walk thru the woods, keep you eyes on the ground, the mushrooms will pop up right in front of you.

As Lassiter says above, kind of a pain almost need 3 hands. There is a kit available from Brownell's to convert the bolt release into one like the Model 700 with the release button in the trigger guard. I did this to a Model 660 I had. I get real grumpy when a menu item is listed, but seldom available. Our local B (ob) E (vans) is real bad about this with the chicken pot pies, and their Memphis chicken. If they don't have it or aren't going to fix it right then, take it off the menu.

I'm not sure, but the fellow that is front, center also looks like he has a Luger. Notice the barrel ring front sight, and definite ring where barrel screws into the receiver, and I think I see the "ears" of the toggle bolt also......?????????????????????

I had the early 180 series Mini. Was totally reliable when you kept the chamber cleaned, and used reloads that had been resized with small base dies. Use a good clean burn powder, clean the gas port occasionally. Accuracy was around 3" at 100 yds, used it mainly for coyote shooting.

Yes, dad gave it to me when I was 9, a Hamilton #51 boys rifle, .22 single shot bolt action. Was my dad's rifle when he was a boy. It's been mine for 50+ years now. I bought my son a new Chipmunk .22 when he was 9, and he still has it too.

Assuming there are no marks already, and old style SA. Put an electrical tie wrap through the trigger guard and over the hammer and pull tight. Therefore rendering the gun inoperable and thus no drag line on the cylinder. Sorry just couldn't resist.

I found a Coleman lantern sitting on the lake shore one day, apparently left by a night fisherman. I put a stick with a note on it with my phone number should he come back for it but it was never claimed. Gave it to my son, don't know if he still has it or not.

I use a 250 gr. KT bullet from RCBS mold, over 8-9 grs. of Unique. Worked good in my Super Blackhawk, my S&W 29, and looks promising in Ruger 96/44.

Why not add some weight to his cricket or red ryder and have him practice sighting and holding with the "heavier" gun ? Start building his strength, then go to the "bigger" gun in a youth version when he can handle it. I would think .243 as best if shooting deer, .223 for smaller...
