Re: Loading & Range Report- Taylor's '76 .45-60 Black Powder

Yep. Fg. Like I said, I'm trying to work with what I got. I've found that my .45 Colt revolver really likes Fg too. I just can't bring myself to shoot fake black powder, especially considering the cost. Cleaning up after shooting black is not at all difficult. I intend to work up loads for Goex Cart...

There is really no difference between the two. My friend has a Cimmaron and I have a Taylor's. They both have great fit & finish and both shoot very well. See this thread for a range report on my rifle:

Loading & Range Report- Taylor's '76 .45-60 Black Powder

I have been doing quite a bit of load experimenting with my Taylor's 1876 Winchester copy in .45-60. It has a 28" barrel and is fitted with a Marble's tang sight and a Beech front sight. https://i.imgur.com/6VARBIy.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yoUUgcf.jpg I have limited myself to one bullet, a cast ...

Re: 1894-1994 centennial price?

I bought mine new about 2 years ago from a local dealer for $625. It had been there several years with a $825 price tag. No one seemed interested so he took my offer just to move it. These would be fine rifles were it not for the fact that they have the dreaded cross-bolt safety and a rebounding ham...

Re: Can you/do you hunt with your leverguns?

I always put in for the muzzleloader hunts here in the far north of California, but haven't drawn one since 1988. For regular deer season hunting I take 2 rifles, a left-hand Browning A-Bolt .270 for areas where shots may be over 200 yards, and one of my leverguns for everything else. I sometimes su...

I find it difficult to put too much stock in published values. I try to have faith in the judgement of the "experts" who publish their opinions, so I recently bought a copy of the 2008 issue of "Blue Book of Gun Values". My faith in the author's judgement was somewhat shaken when...

It's not a hot-rod now, but my 1955 Chevy Nomad was when I first got it running in 1969. I put in a built 327, Muncie 4 speed, and 4:11 positraction. It would really smoke the 12" wide tires I ran on the back. It had a bright yellow paint job with black tuck-n-roll interior and was a pretty fas...

For years I have used a pair of RCBS Uniflow measures, one for low volume charges and one for high volume charges. Yep. I really do shoot black powder and cast lead bullets in my '95 .405.
