Re: Marlin 336 RC misfire fix?

The two piece firing pin is a safety device, and the spring is supposed to push the rear section down out of alignment with the front section, that is how it works. When the lever is fully closed the locking block pushes the rear section up so it is properly aligned. This cannot be seen! All your fr...

Since Winchester lists 5.3 gr. 231 w/230 jacketed bullet as maximum @ 16,900 PSI I would say the load is somewhat marginal to begin with. It will average somewhere around 20,000 PSI with correct primers. My recollection is that SAAMI MAP for the .45 ACP is 20,000, so that isn't the issue. That said,...

When in doubt, use the powder manufacturers data. Also, follow their cautions. In this case it is to not reduce more than 3% from maximun. That makes minimum 16.1 gr. and maximum 16.6 gr.

Measuring new untrimmed Winchester 38-55 brass gives 2.080 - 2.083 - even the longest easily slide all the way in. The chamber is apparently longer than that. Yes, they very well may easily chamber at he 2.080, remember the crimp. This is a reference direct from this forum:http://www.leverguns.com/...

The flaw to this theory is the SAAMI dimension for the .375 chamber shows a MAXIMUM dimension of 2.080". The SAAMI maximum cartridge length is 2.020". The "short" .38-55 cases would still have to be trimmed to be correct, although there may have been the reasoning that by shorten...

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 38-55 brass was shortened so that it chamber in the new (at the time) 375 Win rifles. The reason being that the 38-55 was pretty much obsolete and not being chambered in rifles at that time. By shortening the brass, one could continue to use the 38-55, ...

After years of playing with the .35 Remington I settled on 39.0/IMR 4895. This chronographs with 200 Hdy. at:

Winchester case; 2178
Remington case; 2133

These fall really close to the old published velocity of 2100.

FWIW, the Federal factory I have chronographed was 2009

The .22-250 is nothing more than the .250 Savage necked down to.22 with no other changes. t is a rimless cartridge with the standard .473 nominal diameter head shared by all cartridges develop...

Try applying a little more crimp and you will find that it evens out. The weaker side (thinner) of the case gives way first allowing the crimp bevel to push the case even more to that side. rimping slighly more forces the case to center in the die. A second possibility is your brass has uneven mouth...

It would be almost a straight line at that range, less than 1" variation. Actual measurements would depend on actual zero range, but if zeroed at 50 yds. the bullet would start the distance down that it is from the sight line to bore center and rise to the aiming point without ever crossing the...

Is this true?
Short answer, No.

What is critical is overall length. So long as you stay under 2.550 you should be OK. Some Marlins can take a little more length, but not much.
