You can attach a regular sling with no alterations to your gun. Use a tab of leather between the barrel and magazine tube with a chicago screw and a tab on leather under the butt-plate with one screw retaining it and a hole with a ring-loop on the exposed end. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n5/T...

Re: Heavy bullets in 38/357 or other 35 caliber loads ...
Thanks for the input. Hobies load works okay. I have recd a PM that suggested Titegroup. 3.5 gr in a 38 SPL case gets 665 fps out of the 16" barrel with the 220 whatever grain bullets. 5.5 gr in a 357 Mag case gets 1008 fps. I don't see any ill signs and they are pretty accurate at close range....

Heavy bullets in 38/357 or other 35 caliber loads ...
First a text message showed up from a number I do not recognize saying "Sending you these", along with a photo of some cast bullets. Then the package shows up. It took a while to figure out it was from a guy I met during Operation Hurrican Sandy Relief. There are 200 of each - 217 grain ca...

Welcome! Somewhere in the rules it says we "talk about most anything" as long as we're civil to one another. You're in the right place to find out whatever you need regarding leverguns and others too. My boys started out with a Rossi (Puma) shooting 38 SPL. It was slick as can be and never...

There are quite a lot of them in Texas and in Oklahoma. In Texas, there is no season on them and they are often shot along with pigeons over grain fields in the Spring. In OK the game laws specify they are covered under the regular dove season. While they don't seem to take over the local mourning d...

Re: What rifle??
I get to shoot from 3 to 5 deer in my home State and I travel to hunt too. I like to use a different rifle for each occasion, sticking with one until I shoot with it. I typically start with 50cal in-line and then go to a 50cal side lock. I've not used my 35-30 cal Henry so I want to try that. Then I...

Actually found a good use for the rabbits. The Wylie wildlife rehab sanctuary will take frozen rabbits, whole and in quantities of at least 12 for the big cats and birds that reside there. Summer rabbits are iffy for human consumption so this was a nice way to make good use of them.

Re: Traditional lever actions are inherently inaccurate?
With a good trigger and load experimentation I can get MOA accuracy from several of my leverguns. The Henry 30-30 can do 1.5" groups at 100 yds off the bench. My Savage 99 in 308 Win shows a significant difference in handloads just the way it likes them. With that load it'll do 1.5" groups...

It is the same case - on is necked to .30 cal and one to 32 cal. You can neck down 32 WS to 30 WCF and you can neck up 30 WCF to 32 WS. I use both cases to form 35-30 cases too.
