It was leaned against a juniper tree. Those trees don't grow very fast.FWiedner wrote:I'm thinkin' that it's a more recent loss.
If it had been there for that long, I wonder why the tree hadn't grown around it?
But no one will ever know how long that gun has been there. Really neat find!

My $0.02.... From everything I have read, the M1911 performed very well in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. I realize the single-action, cocked-and-locked nature of the weapon makes some people nervous (IMO they should get over it). Are today's soldiers not capable of learning how to use a 1911, when so ma...

Krik, if you want a .308, why not an M1A? I have the "Scout" version with the forward rail for optics and the shorter 18'' barrel. I've never mounted a scope--the iron sights work fine for me for now. A very handy and accurate rifle. I've never had a problem with it. It is probably heavier...

Just my opinion but if we're talking about a Ruger single action, it would have to be pretty darn special to be worth 900. I don't believe a Bisley Blackhawk in .45 is a 900 dollar gun. Just my opinion.

I hope I didn't offend anyone here with my comments about the safeties and the rebounding hammers or the AE. It's not that I think those things will make a gun shoot bad. I used to have a pre-safety angle eject in 44 mag. It started life with a rebounding hammer, but I converted it to half cock instead. I really loved the little rifle but traded it off for a Marlin 45-70. It was a fair trade, but that little 44 was a sweet rifle. I think for general purpose, the 357...

Talk to me about 94 Trappers
I'd like to know more about Winchester 94 Trappers. I recently sold off two Winchester 94 Trappers in .357. I decided I just did not like the safeties. One had the crossbolt safety and the other the tang safety. I've got one Trapper left, in 30-30, that is pre-safety. Did they make any of the pre-sa...
