I once read on a Marlin Owners thread that the 336 was chambered in .32 Special from 1948 until 1963. Thought it was interesting and wrote it down since mine (my Dad's) was made in 1953.

I don't know if these dates are factual, just something that I read once.

I'm probably in a small minority on this, but, I opine that anything you shoot with a Remington 240gr jacketed will die very quickly. My next choice would be a 265 Hornady bullet. WW 175XX

The WW is part of the roll mark, the 175XX serial number is stamped. The bottom of the dust cover is lightly marked:

I just left My Dealer (Guns) and He has a Springfield NIB for $425 plus $35 for reg. My Brother just bought the green one yesterday for $425 otd. I wondering where I went wrong. Steve, a range Officer is on my wish list. I really like that. Actually, I would like the Range Officer slide on your Mil Spec frame. I don't need the beavertail - never been bit by a 1911 or A1. (My 1969 Browning HP however...)

Just like lead shot on the lake bottom killing waterfowl. It's all about control. The problem with lead shot was that dabbling ducks like mallards ingested the shot as they fed in marshes that had been hunted. That's actually a pretty nice O/U. My Dad gave me one in 12 gauge back in late '80s or early '90s. My Silver I was fixed choke, I think the Silver II has choke tubes.
My son is enjoying it now.

I do like 1911s (alot) but I would go for the 454. I think that it would be a good packing pistol in the woods. Not too many 4 or 2 legged varmints that Taurus couldn't deter. A plus to the 454 is you can also shoot 45 Colt ammo through it for practice or just plinking. I have a little Taurus 2"...

I have four Marlins of varying vintages (and have owned three others) and luckily have never experienced the dreaded "Marlin Jam". Is it only pistol cartridges or others as well?

I have 30-30, 32 WS, 35 Rem, 444. Never had any problem with them.
