It never hurts to make a trip to a shop where you can breathe the fresh gun air laced with Hoppe's #9 and perhaps some old leather.

A looooong time ago, Robert Snap ("pp?") rebarreled and converted a #1 Remington rolling block to .45 ACP for me. I used it to test reloads for my Model 1911 pistols that I was shooting like a mad fool when I got out of High School (and did my hearing in...). He was quite a guy. Ended up i...

To answer another post: The rifle cost me $600 plus $33 sales tax. The metal is 99% and the only part that shows normal 59 year old handling and use is the wood, but only in a couple of small spots you really have to look for. Tonight I stopped by the gunshop and there sat a nice 39-A. Gunshop owner told me that this was a rare one, he called it a "Pre-Mountie". Serial number K2283* (1953 Mfg.) 24" barrel, (Barrel is marked 39-A, no "Mountie" marking). Straight stock. On the receiver is a Lyman re...

If you have not held a Remington Model 51, .380 auto in your hand, you are missing a real treat. Gents, I have been the proud owner of a Marlin Model 1895 (2001) CB rifle for about 3 weeks now. The Argentine Model 1909 is a relatively rare rifle. They ran those only for a couple of years and made relatively few of them. They were commonly re-chambered for .30-06, and all you had to do, as you have noted is to change the expander ball on your resizing die to one made for .312", and you...

Just a quick addition. Being a short, fat bodied cartridge and the .38 Special thinner in th body, there would be no way it could be reamed out to .38 Special. Just the fact that the chamber for the .38 S&W is larger than a chamber for a .38 Special would make it impossible to ream out... The .3...
