I'm guessing that's some where in Russia or one of those countries near there? Maybe someone else can nail that down. Cub is pretty cute but with what appears to be a construction worker walking by I wonder what type of "facility" there at.

My first Levergun

I have a Daisy Red Ryder that was my first levergun. Picked it up at a yard sale when I was about four or five. It is a Model 1938B, lot No. 89054405. It has the Medallion on the side of the stock. I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about it. I'm curious. http://i1082.photobucket.com/a...

If that's the convertible version you could slip the 22 Mag cylinder in it and have a decent home defense gun. Some might argue it but after reading some of Paco's writings it has been used successfully in the past.

I have no experience with the 280 Remington. All mine is with the 270 Winchester. Looking at my Nosler reloading manual, they are listing a 160 grain Nosler Partition or Accubond at 2,792 fps with a MAX charge of 54 grains of H4831sc out of a 280 Remington.

Sounds like you couldn't have done better. A 20 gauge will sure enough do the job and simpler is usually better starting out. While I have yet to take my first deer my first shotgun was also a, H&R 20 gauge (youth model).

I would agree Hobie and Shooter that a scoped 7mm-08 would probably be a better choice. If she is shooting your 270 well enough and likes that then that is an option as well (270 happens to be my favorite deer round). Whatever happens I'd let her pick what she feels comfortable with.
